Join Future Harvest and the
Million Acre Challenge on Friday, September 22, for a hands-on event with Jairo Restrepo, a world-renowned agricultural engineer, agronomist, and lecturer.
Born in Colombia, now living in Brazil, Jairo’s work supports the development of innovative techniques rooted in traditional rural knowledge. He focuses on fertilization and nutrition, soil restoration and resilience, and the transition processes for conventional farms that want to evolve towards organic agriculture. Jairo has published 11 books in Spanish that have sold over 30,000 copies worldwide.
In this 3-hour field visit to Pogo Tree Experts / Acme Biomass Reduction, Jairo will offer practical and interactive information, featuring
bokashi, a Japanese-influenced, fermented fertilizer. See the Pogo bokashi operation in action, under the guidance of Ricardo Leon Bejarano and his brother, Huberth.
Participants will be able to observe and discuss the importance of various bokashi inputs, including the use of native microorganisms, as well as learn more about the preparation, use, and science of fermented fertilizers, all with a special emphasis on how to take advantage of local resources and materials.
