Join Agricultural Educator Shane J. LaBrake for a one-day intensive on small engine machines and the BCS two-wheel tractor. This workshop is the result of a partnership between UMES Extension Small Farms Program and Future Harvest.

Workshop Overview:

The morning session will include an introduction; a review of gasoline-powered two-stroke and four stroke engines – how they work and the maintenance implications; Personal Protective Equipment; a review of common problems with both types of engines; and how to troubleshoot and pro-actively address these challenges. After a 45-minute lunch (meal provided with your ticket), the afternoon session will review safe operation of the BCS two-wheel tractor, and the basic maintenance that you can do on your small farm. If you have a BCS two-wheel tractor, please feel welcome to bring your own for this workshop! There will be one on site for hands-on demonstration purposes. This training will be packed with lots of information and many useful tips to make your work safer, more productive and efficient, and ultimately – more profitable. There will also be a discussion of the pros and cons of Lithium-ion battery-powered tools.
