Soil Health and Shared Equipment at Fireside Farm

Join us at Fireside Farm’s newest production site to learn more about the collaborative work being done by Fireside, Hanging Rock Hay & Grain, and Three Monkeys Farm to improve the soil health programs at all three farms. For the past season, these farm businesses have been purchasing and using shared equipment in an initiative made possible by a collaborative grant. Participants will have an opportunity to hear about what soil health means to the owners of these farms, to ask plenty of questions, and to see the new equipment they have been using to boost fertility and improve tillage practices.

Additionally, Loudoun SWCD will share about Cost Share program info from Kay Powell, Invasives Removal program info from Caroline Miller

Each farm business will discuss their business model/mission, what soil health means to each manager/how they have built their soil health program, and equipment from the grant that will augment their soil health programs

We will have a brief discussion of equipment sharing strategy to includce a description of group agreements, description of administration strategy: Google form use, plan for maintenance, and disucssion on future collaboration: thoughts on other equipment to acquire, ideas for a grain cleaning facility.
